[KiniNews] Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today urged the public to give the MACC time to conduct its investigations following the seizure of a property-related tycoon Daim Zainuddin.
Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Kota Damansara today, Anwar stressed that all parties need to understand and give space to the investigating body to carry out its duties including investigation involving figures who are influential, hold titles or wield power.
"Let MACC carry out its duties, regardless of position, whether they are a Tun or a Tan Sri. Let there be investigation, so that leaders are not seen as being protected by higher powers," he said.
Anwar said MACC's probe proved that the anti-graft body was independent and would investigate anyone regardless of their status.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi has hit out at Tony Pua over his statement on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail project.
He said Pua had failed to see the overflow aspect of the project which could be a game changer for development.
